Micro-moments of Self Care

The Joys of Micro-Moments

Oftentimes mental health is regarded as a big, exhaustive task. We're told big things like 'make sure you take mental health days' or 'exercise regularly' - but what about the small, everyday micro self-care activities that can help ease mental stress?

Research suggests that micro self care can be just as important - maybe even more so - than big mental health tasks. Micro self care packs a big mental health punch and more and more research is pointing to its effectiveness.

Tiny habits like drinking water, listening to music, holding a warm cup of coffee or tea, and writing down three things you're grateful for can have a lasting impact on mental wellbeing. While it won't solve mental health issues overnight, it is an excellent starting point for creating meaningful change in your life and it's definitely worth taking a few minutes each day to dedicate to these small but mighty mental health boosters.

My go-to micro self care routines are holding a cup of warm tea or coffee, taking a few deep breaths, and a few snuggles with Lenny the therapy dog. What are yours?
